12 Week Tribal Fusion Courses.

12 week Tribal Fusion Level 1 and Level 2 Courses.

I am teaching Tribal Fusion courses in association with The Mia Serra School of Dance at Danceworks, Central London starting Jan 2010.
These are great courses for beginners and intermediate dancers alike. They will teach the style and form of tribal fusion as well as some background and costuming.

They are both 1 hr per week on Thursday evenings, The Level 1 is 7pm – 8pm and Level 2 is 8pm – 9pm. Both courses begin on 7th Jan 2010.

Fantasia Dec 12th / 13th

Hello all

I am teaching a workshop on the 12th of December and performing in the evening show for the Fantasia event in Chiswick, west London.

The Workshop is 2hr ‘Slinky and serpentine’

The show begins at 6pm and finishes at 10pm on Saturday. You can stay to watch the whole show, or dip in and out to catch your favourite performers.

I should be performing around 7PM on Sat evening.

Well it has been a while since my last post but I have been very busy on a number of projects, teaching and performing. I recently came back from performing at Dark and Tribalicious in

Sweden, beautiful country and great to meet a whole new dark fusion audience. I managed to see most of the show, Ariellah, Ashara and Morgana did not disappoint, they were amazing!

Locks Ticks and Breaks/Strobbing in Tribal Fusion Belly Dance.

Wow your audience and take your dance to another level with locks, ticks and breaks/strobs. This is an intense workshop where movements will be drilled repeatedly through safe and correct muscle location. At the end of this workshop students should have a good grounding of each movement and how they fit within tribal belly dance.
Beginner/intermediate class, not suitable for complete beginners to belly dance as some moves may not be broken down. Please contact me if you are unsure of your level. darkstarkerry@googlemail.com

Strength and presence in the upper body

Exactly what it says on the tin. We will cover a range of upper body moves which will include posture, arms, shoulders, chest and belly drills to create smooth slinky and serpentine movements. We will work on techniques to improve strength in the arms shoulders and upper body and incorporate locks and breaks, this enables us to add variety and creativity into our dance. There will be a strong emphasis on stage presence throughout the class.
We will then learn a short choreography using all the drilled moves making sure to use the space around us and dance with strength.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and intermediate dancers who wish to learn and sharpen up moves and work towards performance. Bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes.
I have secured space in a fantastic mirrored studio Near Tottenham Court Road in Central London. The class will be 2 hours of tribal fusion. All levels welcome, you can pre-book by paypal payment using the button on this page.

Locks, Pops and Choreography Workshop on May 16th.

Locks and Pops are one of the defining moves of Tribal Fusion belly dance.

This workshop will focus on achieving sharp locks and pops through the understanding of our anatomy and isolation of core muscle groups. These moves will then be drilled repeatedly.

We will then learn a short choreography using all the drilled moves. This will show how locks and pops can be used in choreography to interpret the music and give dancers the feel of what it is like to perform as a tribal fusion dancer.
